Therapy — general
How do I know if therapy is right for me? +
Many people find that talking things through in a safe, non-judgemental space helps them gain perspective, process emotions and make positive changes. If you are unsure, you are welcome to get in touch — there is no obligation to book after an initial enquiry.
Do I need a referral to book? +
No. You can book directly via the booking page. New clients book into released availability — existing regular clients continue with the current process.
What happens in the first session? +
The first session is an opportunity for us to meet, for you to share a little about what has brought you to therapy, and for us to think together about what you are hoping to get from the work. There is no pressure to share more than you are ready to.
How many sessions will I need? +
This varies considerably depending on what brings you to therapy and what you are hoping to achieve. Some people find a short block of sessions useful; others prefer to work over a longer period. We will review progress together regularly and you are always free to end when you feel ready.
Is everything I say confidential? +
Yes, with the usual professional exceptions. Confidentiality may need to be broken if there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others, or if required by law. These limits are explained fully in the Terms and Conditions of Service.
Do you offer reduced fees? +
A small number of reduced fee spaces are reserved for those experiencing financial difficulty. These are limited and offered depending on individual circumstances and current availability. Please mention this in your enquiry.
Booking & payments
What is the cancellation policy? +
48 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule any individual, couples or supervision session. Cancellations with more than 48 hours' notice are refunded in full less a £5 administration fee, which covers the card-processing costs that are not returned to me when a payment is refunded. Rescheduling with more than 48 hours' notice is free. Cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice and non-attendance are charged at the full session rate. Group sessions cannot be cancelled or rescheduled by participants. Couples intensives are different: Full payment is taken when your intensive is confirmed. 25% of the fee is a non-refundable deposit. Cancel with more than 48 hours' notice and the remaining 75% is refunded; cancel with less than 48 hours' notice, or do not attend, and the full fee is charged. For multi-day packages the 48 hours runs from the start of the first day.
How do I pay? +
Payment is taken via Stripe at the time of booking for all individual and couples sessions. Receipts are issued automatically. Healing Relationships and Couples Supervision Group payments are also handled via Stripe.
Are sessions recorded? +
No. Sessions are never recorded. You will be asked to confirm this at booking.
What platform are sessions held on? +
Sessions are held via Zoom. A unique, secure link is sent with your booking confirmation. You must attend from a private space where you will not be interrupted or overheard.
Do you hold a policy with WPA Insurance? +
I am registered with WPA Insurance. If you hold a WPA policy, please send an enquiry before booking directly and mention your policy — this means we can arrange things correctly for you from the start. Please do not book a session directly without contacting me first if you intend to use your WPA cover.
Working with me from outside the UK
Do you work with clients outside the UK? +
Yes. I work online with people all over the world, including many British expats and English speakers living abroad. Because of professional and insurance requirements there is a small number of countries where I am unable to offer therapy or supervision — I check this when I receive your enquiry or booking, and if it applies to you I will tell you straight away and refund any payment in full. If you would like to check first, send me a message with the country you live in.
What time zone are sessions in? +
Times quoted on this website are UK time (GMT in winter, BST in summer). The booking calendar detects your location and shows availability in your own time zone, and your confirmation email includes the Zoom link. For the group programmes, each page has a link that shows the start time where you are.
What currency do I pay in? +
All fees are in pounds sterling (GBP). Payment is taken securely by card when you book. If your card is in another currency, your bank converts the amount at its own rate — there is nothing extra to arrange.
Do I need to be a UK resident or have UK insurance? +
No. You do not need to live in the UK or hold any UK insurance to work with me. The only exception is the small number of countries mentioned above. WPA Insurance cover is optional and only relevant to clients who already hold a WPA policy.
Couples therapy & intensive
One of us isn't sure about coming — is that okay? +
Yes. Ambivalence is very common when entering couples therapy. An initial session can be a helpful way to explore whether therapy is right for you at this time, without any commitment to ongoing work.
What is a couples intensive? +
A couples intensive is a concentrated block of therapy — from 3 hours up to 3 days — allowing deeper work in a shorter timeframe than weekly sessions. It is available online and bookings are by enquiry.
Can we do a couples intensive and then continue with weekly sessions? +
Yes. Some couples use an intensive as a starting point and then continue with regular sessions. Others find the intensive stands alone. We discuss what would be most useful for you at the enquiry stage.
Clinical supervision
Do you supervise trainees? +
Yes. I supervise both qualified therapists and trainees across a range of courses and placements. Please get in touch to discuss your specific training requirements.
Can I join Small Group — Supervision if I am new to couples work? +
Yes. The groups welcome therapists who are new to couples work as well as those with more experience. You should be qualified or in advanced training, hold professional insurance and be a member of a relevant professional body.
What happens if Small Group — Supervision doesn't reach the minimum number? +
A group requires a minimum of 4 participants. If the minimum is not reached, you will be offered a place in the next available group or a full refund.
Healing Relationships community
What is Healing Relationships and when does it launch? +
Healing Relationships is a new online community for therapists working with couples and relationships, combining live sessions, educational resources and peer connection in a rolling monthly format. It is currently being built and is due to launch in early 2027.
How will I know when Healing Relationships opens? +
Join the mailing list. Subscribers will be the first to hear when it is nearing launch, with full details of pricing and how to sign up.
